Hopefully, I can make the time to produce more videos like this one, reviewing the masters of my primary instrument…
I doubt this awesome drummer’s name rings a bell for most layman, but here’s just a few of his accomplishments…
- Drummer for the E. Street Band for over 46 years.
- Spent 17 years as the bandleader on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien”.
- A bit of trivia: He’s the father of Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg.
- Maybe not exactly an accomplishment, but originally from Newark, NJ. Gotta love the accent, brings me right back home as another Jersey Boy musician. That may well have led me to become a bit biased here, but I digress…
In my humble opinion, Max is one of the most underrated drummers in Rock. I’ve always enjoyed his style, a bit simplistic in some moments, yet at a bat of the eye he becomes an absolute monster. And, all of this using an old school, 4-piece kit.
That said, I put together a little video, one of my favorite interviews with him, and added some on-screen comments as a personal touch to hopefully keep things a little more interesting.
As always, your comments are welcome. Rock on Max!
