Here’s a beautiful yet often overlooked song, the final track of Bad Company’s debut album.
I use this tune for warm-up quite a bit, so I’ve no idea why it took so long for me to come up with the idea to cover it.
Talk about minimalistic, only 7 tracks make up this entire song, by far the least I’ve ever used in a production. Everything was recorded via a R0DE NT1-A condenser microphone (save the keyboards), and using only a single guitar.
“Sometimes less is indeed more.”

“Seagull”
Music and Lyrics by Paul Rodgers and Mick Ralphs
Seagull, you fly across the horizon,
Into the misty morning sun.
Nobody asks you where you are going,
Nobody knows where you’re from.
Here is a man asking the question,
Is this really the end of the world?
Seagull, you must have known for a long time,
The shape of things to come.
Now you fly, through the sky
Never asking why.
And you fly all around
’til somebody shoots you down…
Seagull, you fly across the horizon,
Into the misty morning sun.
Nobody asks you where you are going,
Nobody knows where you’re from.
Now you fly, through the sky
Never asking why.
And you fly all around
’til somebody shoots you down…
Seagull, you fly,
Seagull you fly away.
And you fly away today,
And you fly away tomorrow,
And you fly away,
Leave me to my sorrow.
Mmm… Mmm… Mmm…
Seagull, go on and fly.
Mmm… Mmm… Mmm…
Fly to your tomorrow.
Leave me to my sorrow.
Fly…
My fave Bad Co. track…. thanks!

Thanks Döc! This is the last song I’d ever suspect being your favorite by the band, so glad you enjoyed it.
