Like everyone else who knew this wonderful soul, my heart was totally crushed when I heard the news of Laine’s passing a few days ago…
From the moment I first met her, she treated me as if she’d known me all her life. Without a doubt, Laine was one of the kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of calling my friend.
We shared a great passion for music, and constantly went back and forth with text messages discussing just about anything you can think of on the subject. Since I’ve been at it basically all my life, she often very respectfully asked for my feedback and advice, which I was more than happy to provide.
Most admirably, she was constantly striving to improve herself, as any serious artist should.
Both of us had always hoped to get together here at Cygnus for collaborations, but most sadly that never came about due to the physical distance between us. She had a beautiful, passionate, and sultry voice that I very much wanted to record, and accompany with my own music.
However, she did create literally thousands of tracks in partnership with many other artists on the “Smule” web site. Having over 2,000 followers, her home page there is linked below.
Celebrate her life by giving some of her performances a listen, I know she would have wanted it that way.
This is one of the last songs she ever recorded, and among my very favorite efforts from her:
Thanks for being such a close friend to me, Laine… The honor was all mine.
May God bless you with the riches of his grace, the treasures of his love, and the comfort of his mercies.
“The true beauty of music is that it connects people. It carries a message, and we, the musicians, are the messengers.”
– Roy Ayers
